Start a new presentation from a slide master in your library

Ampler starts a new presentation from a slide master saved in your library, so every deck begins on an approved template instead of PowerPoint’s blank default.

Quick answer: Click New Presentation (Ctrl+Shift+N) on the Ampler ribbon, select the slide master to use, and click New presentation — the deck opens on that template.

How to use it

Starting a new presentation from a slide master with Ampler

Pick a slide master from your library and start the deck on it.

  1. Click New Presentation (Ctrl+Shift+N) on the Ampler ribbon.
  2. Select the slide master to use.
  3. Click New presentation or press Enter.

You can also add slide masters to your library, apply a master to the current presentation, set a default, or change the resolution from the same place.

Keyboard shortcut

New Presentation is Ctrl+Shift+N by default; you can reassign it in the Ampler Settings → Shortcuts.

Why use it

Starting from PowerPoint’s blank template means importing or rebuilding the house style every time. Starting from a saved slide master means the new deck is on-brand from the first slide — correct fonts, colours, and layouts already in place.

How consultants use it

Firms run on standardised templates, and a deck that doesn’t start from the approved master is off-brand before a word is written. Starting from the library master enforces the standard. Three conventions apply:

  • Every deck starts on-brand: the approved master carries the fonts, colours, and layouts.
  • One source for the template: masters live in the library, so everyone builds on the same one.
  • Set the default once: the standard master can be the default so new decks are correct automatically.

Starting from a library master keeps the whole team on one template.

Tips & best practices

  • Save your firm’s masters to the library so they’re always a click away.
  • Set the standard master as default so new decks open correct.
  • Apply a master to an existing deck to bring an off-brand file back in line.
