Keyboard shortcut

Swap places has no default shortcut. To assign one, open the Settings dropdown on the Ampler ribbon, choose Shortcuts, click Set shortcut on the function, and press your key combination.

Why use it

Reordering two objects by hand means dragging one aside, moving the other, and nudging both back. Swap places exchanges their positions in one step, so the page layout stays aligned while the order changes.

How consultants use it

Page layouts are revised as a document firms up, and objects rarely stay where they first landed. Exchanging two cleanly keeps that fast and precise. Three habits apply:

  • Restructure without breaking alignment: positions are exchanged exactly.
  • Iterate layout quickly: testing a different order is a one-click move.
  • Objects stay on the page: nothing drifts off the margins.

Swap places makes reordering objects an exact operation.

Tips & best practices

  • Use it to test a different order of figures without disturbing alignment.
  • Select exactly two objects to swap.
  • Follow with Align to keep objects on the margins.
