Why use it
Checking a deck for formatting inconsistencies by hand is slow and unreliable — misaligned shapes, mixed fonts, and stray colours are easy to miss and tedious to correct one by one. Scan & Fix applies a consistent rule set across every slide and fixes what it finds in a single pass, so the deck is clean before it goes out.
How consultants use it
In consulting, formatting is a credibility gate: reviewers reject decks with inconsistent fonts, alignment, or colours regardless of how strong the underlying analysis is, because inconsistency reads as carelessness. Three habits are standard:
- Consistency is non-negotiable. Fonts, sizes, colours, and alignment are expected to be identical across an 80-slide deck — action titles even stay the same size and position when you flip through.
- A formatting pass before every send. A dedicated quality-control step is standard practice before a deck reaches a partner or client, on a par with proofreading.
- Quality under deadline. Decks are built and revised under time pressure, so an automated check that finds and fixes inconsistencies at once protects quality when there is no time for a manual review.
Scan & Fix automates that final consistency pass.
Tips & best practices
- Run a full scan as the last step before exporting or sending a deck.
- Lower the warning level for a strict, client-ready pass; raise it to focus on major issues only.
- Use Ignore for intentional exceptions so they stop surfacing on re-scans.
Availability
Included in Ampler for PowerPoint and the Ampler Suite, on Windows desktop PowerPoint. Scan & Fix is also available in Excel and Word.
Frequently asked questions
How do you check a PowerPoint for formatting errors?
Use Ampler’s Scan & Fix (Ctrl+Shift+P). It scans the presentation against a set of consistency rules — alignment, fonts, sizes, colours and more — and lets you apply the recommended fix for each issue in one pass.
What does Ampler Scan & Fix check for?
It flags formatting and consistency issues such as inconsistent fonts, sizes, colours, and alignment across slides. You can raise or lower the warning level to see more or fewer issues.
Can you fix formatting across a whole deck at once?
Yes. Scan the entire presentation, then apply the recommended fix to each issue — or scan only selected slides to work section by section.
Is there a keyboard shortcut for Scan & Fix?
Yes, Ctrl+Shift+P by default; you can reassign it in the Ampler Settings → Shortcuts.
