Add a CAGR to each series in Ampler Charts

Ampler Charts adds a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) to individual series, so each series’ own growth over the period is shown — and the series CAGRs can be moved into a legend.

Quick answer: Select and right-click one or more series and click Add series CAGR; move a series CAGR into a legend by right-clicking it and choosing Add to legend.

How to use it

Adding a CAGR to each series in Ampler Charts

Right-click a series to add its own CAGR.

  1. Select and right-click on one or more series.
  2. Click Add series CAGR.
  3. Move series CAGRs into a legend by right-clicking and selecting Add to legend.

Each selected series gets its own CAGR, calculated automatically, so the growth of each line or segment is shown individually.

When to use it

Add a per-series CAGR when each series’ own growth is the point — comparing how fast several lines grow — as opposed to a single chart CAGR for the total.

How consultants use it

Growth rates per series turn a multi-line chart into a comparison of growth. Three habits apply:

  • Growth per series: each series carries its own compound growth rate
  • Compare the rates: the reader sees which series grew fastest, not just their levels
  • Tidy in a legend: series CAGRs can be collected into a legend to keep the plot clean

Series CAGRs turn a multi-series chart into a comparison of growth rates.

Tips & best practices

  • Use series CAGRs to compare how fast several series grow.
  • Move the series CAGRs into a legend when they crowd the plot.
  • Use a single chart CAGR instead when the total’s growth is the point.
