Keyboard shortcut
The toolbar editor opens from Settings → Toolbar. To assign a shortcut to a function you’ve added, open the Settings dropdown on the Ampler ribbon, choose Shortcuts, click Modify on the function, and press your key combination.
Why use it
The default ribbon rarely matches how any one person works. Building a custom toolbar puts the functions you actually use, grouped the way you think, one click away, and lets a team standardise on a shared layout.
How consultants use it
Modellers spend long stretches in Excel, so the workspace is worth optimising, and firms often standardise a toolbar so everyone works the same way. Three conventions apply:
- Tailor the workspace: the tools used most are surfaced and grouped by workflow.
- A firm-standard toolbar: a shared layout means consistency and easy hand-offs.
- On-brand, even here: button colours can match the company brand.
A custom toolbar shapes Excel around how the team actually works.
Tips & best practices
- Position the toolbar before Home so Excel keeps returning to it.
- Group buttons with separators so the toolbar stays readable.
- Share a standard toolbar across the team for consistency.
